With two generations of experience in woodwork, carpentry, and timber framing, we are a family-run firm that specialises in green oak framing. We pride ourselves on quality craftsmanship to build bespoke oak structures. Whether your goals are big or small, we take great pride in making it happen!

Duncan:
Hi I am Duncan, the director and founder of Oaksmiths.
I have had a passion for woodwork for as long as I can remember. This love for wood has been passed down from my dad – his passion and desire to achieve the very best possible with a piece of wood will always surpass me. I love everything we manufacture, every single project we are involved in is unique and throws out its own challenges. I feel very lucky with the fact of the team I work with is amazing. We all get stuck in and work very well as a team. Together we have achieved some fantastic structures which will be here for years and years to come. I love that – we are making our stamp in history.
It doesn’t matter the size of the structure, we all treat each project like it’s our own and have as much pleasure in making an open porch to making a 2 storey structure.
Nick:
Hello. My name is Nick. I have worked at Oaksmiths for 2 years and I have to admit that it is the best job I have ever had. Being an oak framer is a rewarding profession. I love the fact that the structures we create will last for generations and are all handcrafted bespoke to suit the clients personal needs. Since the start of my employment, I have learnt so much, I am happy to be involved in helping with the manufacture of our structures, I love being on site and being part of the installation team when fitted the structures. I am now helping with the day to day management of the business, including looking after our health and safety needs. The growth that the business has seen is a testament to our skills and attention to detail.
Rob:
Hi I am Rob. I am an oak framer at Oaksmiths.
As a part of the team I manufacture and install these amazing oak structures. I joined the team in 2022 and haven’t looked back. Prior to this I was in the engineering trade so I’ve always been hands on and love creating things. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and general diy at home.
Everyday is different and exciting here at Oaksmiths. No structure is the same which is great for our clients and we love creating these amazing oak frames. Seeing happy customer at the end of a job is a great feeling for me and the wow factor of what we hand craft is priceless. We love Oak!
Ben:
My name is Ben, I have been working with Duncan since it was just the two of us in a small shed, through to its current iteration, with multiple employees, a great workshop all my favourite tools.
I discovered my passion for woodworking during my time doing multi trade, after making and fitting, sash windows and doors in old buildings. The attention to detail, quality of work and passion transfers over to oak framing with the added benefits of longevity, traditional style craftsmanship, and a deep pride in the constructs me manufacture.
I get most joy out of the varied designs and different requirement, challenges we have to face and overcome in building a truly bespoke project.
Will:
Hi my name is Will I finished school at 16 and soon after , started my site carpentry apprenticeship with Oaksmiths.
3 years later I am fully qualified and loving every day building oak frames and being part of a great team.
Harvey:
Hello I’m Harvey, I am the newest addition to Oaksmiths. I’ve been here for 3 months however I find Oaksmiths enjoying and hard working. I’ve also just started my level 1 site carpentry apprenticeship which I study at Leicester college I’m in college 1 week of every month, I find the college very useful and enjoy attending it.
